Indulging in delightful treats during the festive season is a universal joy. As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of delicious sweets, it’s natural to seek options that are both scrumptious and mindful of calorie intake. If you’re on the lookout for a guilt-free yet delightful treat, consider trying this no-fry gujiya recipe, recommended by chef Meghna Kamdar from MeghnasFoodKitchen.

Chef Meghna emphasizes the lighter approach to this sweet delight: “Let’s ensure you can have this sweet with less guilt, so have used baking (instead of frying) and honey (instead of sugar syrup). Enjoy.”

Here’s the complete recipe:

**Ingredients:**

– 1 cup Khoya (mava)

– 1.5 cups Maida (plain flour)

– 2 spoons Ghee

– Water

– Dry fruits – Almond, pista

– 1.5 tbsp Sugar

– Cardamom powder

– Honey

– 2 spoons Coconut powder

**Method:**

  1. Take 1 cup mava in a pan and roast until it turns brown. Stir continuously to prevent sticking.
  2. Simultaneously, in a bowl, combine 1 cup maida, ghee, and mix.
  3. Gradually add cold water (2 spoons at a time) to the maida and ghee mixture, kneading it into dough. Cover and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, the mava should be well-roasted. Transfer it to a bowl and let it cool.
  5. Once cooled, add coconut powder, elaichi powder, chopped pista and almonds, and sugar to the mava.
  6. Mix well to create the gujiya filling.
  7. Roll out the maida dough like a chapati and cut roundels using a bowl.
  8. Place a portion of the mava gujiya filling in the center of each roundel.
  9. Apply a little water on the edges, seal the gujiya, and press the edges with a fork.
  10. Since baking is the chosen method, place parchment paper on a baking tray.
  11. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees for 10 minutes.
  12. Bake the gujiyas for 20 minutes.
  13. Once baked (the color won’t be too brown), immediately brush honey on top for a glossy finish.
  14. Garnish with chopped almonds and pista.

Chef Meghna highlights the healthier aspects of this version: “No frying, no sugar syrup… we have cut down half the calories with this version of gujiya.” Enjoy the guilt-free goodness of this baked delight during the festive season!
